William B. Durgin Co. was founded in 1853 in Concord, NH. In 1880, William B. Durgin was joined by his son, George. The Du Barry Collection, created in 1901, was inspired by Madam Du Barry, the last MaƮtresse-en-titre of Louis XV of France. Shortly later, the company was purchased by Gorham Corporation in 1906 and relocated to Providence, Rhode Island in 1931.
