Heir to Whiting Mfg. Co, Frank M. Whiting was a silversmith by family trade. Based in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, Whiting formed Holbrook, Whiting & Albee where he manufactured silverware. In 1878, he purchased full ownership of the company and changed its name to F.M. Whiting & Co. After his death in 1892, the company was operated by his two sisters, mother and widow. The company's name was changed to Frank M. Whiting & Co. following a lawsuit with Whiting Mfg. Co. in 1896. In 1940, the company was purchased by Ellmore Silver Co.
