Pierre Lamothe opened his shop in New Orleans, LA on the corner of St. Louis and Royal Streets in 1813. Joined by his son Jean-Marie Lamothe in 1821, the company relocated to Royal Street between St. Ann and Dumaine and operated under the name Lamothe et fils. The last city record of Pierre Lamothe is dated in 1823. His sons Jean-Marie and Jean-Baptiste Lamothe carried on Pierre's great work under the name Lamothe freres until the 1850's. Today, the highly collectable work of the Lamothe family is revered as as some of New Orleans' finest silver craftsmanship.
