A finely cast antique Dutch sterling silver Apostle spoon, measuring 7 inches in length and representing St. Bartholomew, one of the Twelve Apostles.
The figural handle depicts the apostle seated beneath an architectural canopy, surmounted by a rooster finial, a traditional symbol associated with vigilance and faith. The sculptural detail is crisp and well defined, with strong depth on both front and reverse.
The oval bowl is engraved along the rim with the name “St. Bartholomew”, identifying the apostle represented. Apostle spoons such as this were traditionally given as presentation or christening gifts and are now highly collectible devotional silver.
