An extraordinary late 19th century English silver plate entrée server by Atkin Brothers of Sheffield, pattern number 4111.
This dramatic Aesthetic Movement serving piece features a beautifully hand-engraved domed cover decorated with exotic palm and botanical motifs. The oval stand rests on three sculptural palm tree legs with richly textured trunks and layered fronds — an exceptional example of Victorian figural casting.
Twin side handles provide elegant balance, while the removable pierced interior tray allows proper drainage when serving bacon, fish, or breakfast meats — hence the common term “bacon server.”
The original hinge pin and safety chain remain intact — a wonderful survival detail rarely found complete.
This is not simply tableware — it is sculptural Victorian design with commanding presence.
