An exceptional antique English silver-plated wick trimmer (wick cutter) dating to the late Victorian era, circa 1880–1910.
Beautifully crafted with elaborate floral repoussé decoration, this elegant candle accessory was designed to trim candle wicks while catching the burnt wick inside the attached collection box, helping candles burn cleaner and preventing debris from falling onto fine furniture or carpets.
This example stands out for its unusually rich decoration, featuring hand-worked floral motifs across the finger rings, central medallion, wick box, and blade. It displays beautifully whether added to a collection of antique lighting accessories or used as a decorative conversation piece.
The steel cutting blade bears a small stamped "H" maker's mark. No silver hallmarks or silverplate marks are present, and the piece is offered as believed to be English silver plate based on its design and construction.
