An elegant pair of vintage silver-plated knife rests featuring luminous mother-of-pearl center sections and beautifully detailed decorative silver-plated mounts.
Each rest has a slender mother-of-pearl center accented at both ends with ornate scrollwork ferrules. The distinctive cross-form ends are finished with rounded ball feet, giving the rests an architectural, almost sculptural appearance while keeping a dining knife elevated above the tablecloth.
Knife rests were traditionally placed at individual place settings so a guest could rest a used dinner or carving knife without soiling the linens. Today they make wonderful additions to a formal table setting, antique silver collection, or French/Victorian-inspired tablescape.
The natural mother of pearl has a lovely creamy-white iridescence that contrasts beautifully with the silver-colored metalwork.

Very good vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear, light scratching, and areas of patina/tarnish to the silver plate. The mother-of-pearl sections appear attractive and intact in the photographs. These have not been aggressively polished, preserving the character and detail of the decorative metalwork.
