Elegant 3-piece roast carving set by Gorham in the highly ornate Luxembourg sterling silver pattern, featuring richly decorated sterling silver hollow handles and a graceful script “F” monogram.
The set consists of a large 14-3/4" roast carving knife, two-tine carving fork, and sharpening steel. The unusually large knife gives this set an impressive presence and makes it especially suitable for carving roasts, turkey, ham, prime rib, and other large cuts at the table.
Gorham introduced the Luxembourg pattern in 1893, and its elaborate scrolling decoration is characteristic of the opulent silver designs of the late Victorian period.
The sterling handles feature deeply sculpted scroll and foliate ornamentation surrounding a central cartouche. Each is engraved with an elegant “F” monogram. The handles are appropriately marked GORHAM STERLING with Gorham's hallmarks.
A beautiful and increasingly difficult-to-find serving set for the collector of Gorham silver, an existing Luxembourg flatware service, or for use as an impressive antique table accessory.

Condition
Very good antique estate condition with surface wear, scratches, patina and other signs of previous use consistent with age. The sharpening steel shows considerably more age-related darkening and oxidation than the knife and fork, as expected from its working surface. The sterling handles retain strong pattern detail. Please examine the photographs carefully as they are an important part of the description.
