Elegant antique Gorham H140 two-piece carving set, featuring richly detailed sterling silver hollow handles with scrolling acanthus and floral decoration.

The set includes a carving knife and two-tine carving fork. The ornate handles have a classic late Victorian / turn-of-the-century appearance, with raised scrollwork, floral and leaf motifs, and blank cartouche areas. The handles are marked with the Gorham lion-anchor-G hallmark, STERLING, and H140.

Gorham's H140 design is documented as a discontinued sterling pattern featuring a glossy finish, scroll edges, and floral ornamentation. References place the H140 design in the late 19th to early 20th century, making this an appealing example of historic American silver craftsmanship.

This is the smaller carving size, well suited for steaks, tenderloin, poultry, small roasts, chops, and table-side carving, rather than the very large roast-carving sets sometimes found in this pattern.
